So I've had my snake plant for about six months now and I'm honestly shocked at how low-maintenance it actually is

So I've had my snake plant for about six months now and I'm honestly shocked at how low-maintenance it actually is. I keep it in a corner of my living room that barely gets direct light, and it's thriving! My only question is—am I watering it too much? I've been doing it every other week, but I've read that snake plants prefer to dry out between waterings. Has anyone else struggled with this? I'd hate to accidentally kill the one plant I've actually managed to keep alive.
