So I've had my snake plant for about six months now and I'm pretty sure I've been overwatering it

So I've had my snake plant for about six months now and I'm pretty sure I've been overwatering it? The leaves feel a bit soft which I read is a bad sign. I'm trying the "neglect it" approach now since everyone says they're super low maintenance, but I'm nervous I've already messed it up. Has anyone else accidentally drowned theirs and managed to bring it back? I really don't want to lose my only plant!
