So I've had my snake plant for like six months now and I'm pretty sure I've been overwatering it

So I've had my snake plant for like six months now and I'm pretty sure I've been overwatering it? The leaves feel a bit soft at the base which I think is a bad sign. I read somewhere that they basically want you to forget about them, so I'm going to try watering it way less and see if it bounces back. Has anyone else accidentally loved their snake plant to death? Would love to know what helped yours recover!
